Obituary for Forrest L. Moore Jr.

Ellsworth
Forrest L. “Junior” Moore, Jr, 86, passed away March 18, 2014. Junior was born November 15, 1927 in Ellsworth, the son of Forrest L. Moore, Sr. and Florence Beal Moore.
Junior started driving trucks at a very young age for the family business, Moore’s Motor Express that was incorporated in 1927. They moved furniture from New York to Bar Harbor. During the 50’s through the 70’s they delivered freight from east of Bangor to all the local businesses in the area. In the late 70’s as owner of Moore’s Motor Express, he got into the flatbed business of hauling building materials and hauling for most of the local pine mills in the area. In later years he stepped out of the truck and into the dispatch chair, dispatching those trucks. He enjoyed doing his firewood every year as well as mowing his fields. If you ever stopped by to visit you could always find Junior in his rocking chair beside the old cook stove in the kitchen.
He is survived by his two children, Sharon Grant of Ellsworth, and Richard Moore and his wife Brenda of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren, Clarence “Buzzy” Grant and his wife Karen, Forrest “Buddy” Grant, Jay Moore, Johnny Moore, Jason Moore, and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by Myron Grant and his wife Dottie, Ross Grant and his wife Anne, Alice McGlothin and her husband Gary, Robert Grant and his wife Dianne and son Robert Jr.; special friend Brenda Richardson and family. The family would like to thank the girls at Helens Restaurant where Junior looked forward to having lunch most days. He was predeceased by his life-long partner of 36 years, Frances Carlisle Grant; sister, Arlene Bradford.
As Junior wanted, he died peacefully on the farm where he spent many years.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Woodbine cemetery, Ellsworth.
