Obituary for Esther E. Rodick

Esther E. Rodick, 77, wife of Clarence L. Rodick, Jr, died peacefully January 9, 2014 at her home in Bangor. She was born in Bar Harbor, July 2, 1936, daughter of Norma (Andrews) and C. Leslie Rinaldo.
As a child, she lived in Trenton on the Sunny Hollow Poultry Farm. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1953. While working at Sherman’s Hardware store, she met her husband of 59 years; they were married on September 8, 1954. They lived in Kodiak, Alaska and Wareham, MA while Clarence served 21 years in the US Coast Guard. In 1970 they moved home to Southwest Harbor where she worked at the Southwest Harbor town office as the Administrative Assistant from 1971 until her retirement in 1992. After her retirement, Clarence and Esther enjoyed winters in Florida for many years until finally coming home to Southwest Harbor. Esther loved to sew, knit, and crochet. Mostly she enjoyed doing genealogy of the Rodick family.
She is survived by her husband Clarence; daughters, Carolyn Rodick and her lifetime partner Clint Briggs of Roque Bluffs, Patricia Wiswell and Daniel Wiswell of Glenburn; son, Clarence L. Rodick III of Ellsworth; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Barnhart Rodick, Dianne Ilott, Justin McBrearity, Alyssa Savage and Steven Wiswell. She is also remembered by a dear friend Lucy Barnhart.
A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Friday, January 17, 2014 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. Spring Interment will be held at Goose Cove Cemetery, formerly Evergreen Cemetery in Trenton.
