Obituary for Emily Christina Lockhart

Ellsworth
Emily Christina “Chris” Lockhart, 86, died peacefully October 28, 2015 with family and friends by her side at Courtland Rehab and Living Center, Ellsworth. She was born March 21, 1929 in Holden the daughter of James M. and Ethel J. (George) Rowe.
Chris graduated from Newport High School and attended Bangor School of Commerce. Chris jointly owned and operated Sunshine Nursery School in Ellsworth for many years. She then went on to work at Downeast Family YMCA as a preschool teacher. Chris attended the United Baptist Church in Ellsworth. Chris enjoyed spending time with her family and going out to breakfast with a special group of friends.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Deborah Carter and husband Brad of Hancock, Karen Merrick and husband Perley of Lamoine and Cynthia Petry and husband Phil, of Westbrook; 8 grandchildren, Miranda, Denise, Christie, Lynn, Alex, Ashley, Aaron and Allison; 6 great grandchildren, Dennis, Carter, Lauren, Kylie, Addison and Sarah; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jeanne Abbott.
Special thanks to the staff at Courtland Rehab and living Center for their excellent care giving skills.
A service of remembrance will be held 1pm, Monday, Nov.2, 2015 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
