Obituary for Elise Felton

Southwest Harbor
Elise Latrobe Felton, 86, died unexpectedly on March 15, 2013. Elise was born on December 28, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, attended the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA, and graduated from St Timothy's School in Stevenson, MD.
A renowned horticulturist with a degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Elise pursued a long and fulfilling career growing a wide variety of plants and especially enjoyed the challenge of raising rare plants. After many years of summering in Maine, Elise and her husband, Sam, moved to Southwest Harbor as year-round residents more than twenty years ago. She was active with the Partners for Plants Program in Acadia National Park. She was a member and strong supporter of a number of horticultural organizations, including the Garden Club of Mount Desert . Elise received numerous state and national horticultural awards, including several from the national Garden Club of America. Elise was also author of Artistically Cultivated Herbs, Woodbridge Press, 1990.

Elise Felton is survived by her husband Sam of Southwest Harbor, her two daughters, Elise of Salt Lake City, and Letitia and her husband Eloy Michotte and her two granddaughters, Eleanor and Gabrielle, all of London, England.
