Obituary for Eleanor L. Carlisle

Eleanor L. Carlisle, 68, died unexpectedly October 15, 2009 at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Dexter, October 7, 1941 the daughter of Sterling H. and Olive S. (Grant) Leavitt.
Ellie retired from Downeast Health Services after 25 years of dedicated service. She has been a Selectperson for the town of Surry for seven years. She was an avid quilter and loved spending time in her gardens. She was a member of the Irene Chapter of the Eastern Star, Hancock County Quilter’s Guild, Surry Garden Club and Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls UCC.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Arden C. “Tuffy” Carlisle of Surry; daughters, Sherrie Yacalis and husband Steven of Binghamton, NY, Marcia Westrack and husband Kevin of Calais; stepson, Gary M. Alley and wife Pamela of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Eric and Megan Alley, Aaron and Kristen Westrack, Alexandra, Christiana and Andreas Yacalis; sister, Patricia Ellis and husband Hugh Ed of Ellsworth and FL; brother-in-law, Richard Carlisle and wife Rose Lee of Ellsworth; sisters-in-law, Paula Leavitt of Shapleigh, and Shirley Nelson of Ellsworth. She was predeceased by a brother, Brent Leavitt.
Calling hours will be held 5:00-6:30, Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, October 19th at the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, UCC, with Rev. Emily Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Juniper Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in Ellie’s memory may be made to the Union Congregational Church UCC, P O Box 635, Ellsworth 04605
