Obituary for Doris L. Smith

Corinth and Ellsworth
Doris L. Smith, 96, died April 30, 2013 at Emilio Estates in Corinth. She was born Sept. 10, 1916 daughter of Max V. and Edith F. (Whitehouse) Libby.

In her early years she lived in Guilford, Dover and the Newport area. She graduated from MCI in Pittsfield and was married to Robert F. Smith in 1936. They lived most of their lives in the Ellsworth area. Doris worked for New England Telephone as an operator for many years then for Stratton’s Dept. Store. Doris was an avid Red Sox fan and still followed them on the radio due to her blindness.
Doris is survived by daughter Patricia Snodgrass; a granddaughter Mary Ellingwood and husband Billy, all of Glenburn; two grandsons, Alan Hall and wife Nina of Hermon and Ron Hall and wife Sue of Florida; two great grandchildren, Amanda and Ryan ; one great great-granddaughter; two very close friends, Velma and Ginny . Doris was predeceased by her husband Robert and two granddaughters Alice & Jennifer.
Doris’s family would like to thank everyone at Emilio Estates for the excellent and compassionate care she received as well as the staff from Beacon Hospice and her caring doctor, Lisa.
At Doris's request there will be no services. Private interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. Those who desire may make contributions in Doris’s memory to a local animal shelter.
