Obituary for Donald F. Barton

East Orland
Donald F. Barton, 78, died June 14, 2012 at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital after a short illness of lung cancer. He was born March 22, 1934 the son of Francis Cecil and Dorothy B. (Robinson) Barton.
Donald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. He worked for the State of Connecticut Highway Dept. for 32 years. Don also worked in Real Estate in NH until retiring in 1999. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and being outdoors. He worked with the Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls when his children were young. Don was a member of the Episcopal Church of Danbury, CT. where he contributed his wonderful bass singing voice to the choir singing solos as needed.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Susan Ayres Barton of East Orland; son, Steven J. Barton and wife Susan of Franklin, NH; daughters, Debra L. Barton of Northfield, NH, Heather Barton Lindloff and husband Richard of Stonington, ME, Eileen B. Marcoux and husband Michael of Franklin, NH, and Rachele Barton of East Orland; grandchildren, Shayla DePolo of Dover, NH, Amanda Barton, Kaylah Barton, Jamie Marcoux and Gerald Marcoux all of Franklin, NH; brother, Roger E. Barton and wife Annette of Oakville, CT. He was predeceased by his first wife, Cynthia Rathbone Barton; daughter, Rebecca, and sister, Iona Ingersoll.
A funeral service will be held 11:00am,Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the All Saints Episcopal Church, Oakville, Ct. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Winsted, CT. Officiating will be the Rev. Virginia Peacock of Stonington, Maine. Soloist will be Linda Parker from New Milford, CT.
