Obituary for Diane Marjorie Clark

Ellsworth
Diane Marjorie (Reeder) Clark, 76, died January 27, 2013 in Ellsworth. She was born December 31, 1936, daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Cooper) Reeder.
Diane grew up in Chicago and attended Lake Forest College in Illinois. Following graduate school in Florida, she met and married Bruce, a Winter Harbor, ME native in Jacksonville, FL on June 30, 1962. Bruce’s Navy career took them to Maryland, Florida, California, Guam, and then back to Maryland where he retired. It was upon this return to the states that Diane was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of owning horses. She and Bruce began with two Arabian geldings and it was not until they traded a station wagon for a filly that their horse herd began to grow. Diane greatly enjoyed seeing their horses in the show ring, and making many “horse” friends through the years. After Bruce’s retirement, they moved to Ellsworth and continued breeding and raising horses, having as many as 15 at one point. Diane was very grateful to be able to spend 20 years of her life in this way.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bruce Clark; daughters, Amy Crane and husband Peter of Ellsworth, Jennifer Lebendig and husband Marc of Ruckersville, VA; three granddaughters, Hannah Crane of Ellsworth, and Emma and Mira Lebendig of VA. She was predeceased by her parents; and her Aunt Marjorie.
Calling hours will be held 2:00-4:00, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A service will be held in the spring and announced at that time.
Contributions in Diane’s memory may be made to Hospice of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Avenue, Ellsworth 04605
