Condolence: Condolence to the family of Dr Delmont N. Merrill:

I have many fun memories of Coach Merrill, and I am so sorry he died. He was a person of vision and was bold enough to implement them.

In 1966 he provided Basketball Scholarships to four African American males from urban areas and brought them to Husson College in Bangor, Maine. I am sure that I don’t have to remind you what the minority population in Bangor was in 1966.

This move represented a significant culture shock to us but Coach Merrill, his wife, and family made the transition tolerable for us. He was always honest and trustworthy. He honored all promises and commitments made to us. Most importantly he know when to invite us to his home to share a steak or lobster dinner with him and his family.

It seems like simple words but Coach Merrill touched so many of our lives in a positive way and he will be missed. Personally, I remember him for his many contributions as a coach, an educator, an entrepreneur, a man of vision, and more importantly, a dedicated husband and father.

Rest in peace Dr. Merrill and may God bless your family.

John Sinclair

Condolence: Dear Bobby, Colleen, and Linda - Our warm thoughts are with you all tonight. You do know that your Dad has already found that secret trout pond and has already filled the boat with trout!!!! Part of our fondest years were with Husson College and Dellie and Betty made it so special!!! WOW - what memories! And we always brought Bobbie back home after our fishing adventures!!!! Of course, Betty made Del and Bobby strip in the garage before they came into the house after four days in the woods!!! Again, our warm thoughts. Thumbs up! Always, Dave and Nellie

Condolence: dear Bobby,Colleen, and Linda - with out a doubt - your Dad has found the bigest fishing hole and has already filled the boat with trout! Needless to say, some of our fondest memories were at Husson and with Del and Betty - they made our brief time so enjoyable. I will never forget your Mom saying just before our fishing trips "remember to bring Bobbie home!" And, once home she would not let you into the house after five days in the woods without changing in the garage!- Again, our warm thoughts to you all! Dave and Nellie
