Obituary for David Cecil Emerson

Blue Hill
David Cecil Emerson, 67, died September 30, 2011 at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness of pancreatitis. He was born in Ellsworth, September 9, 1944 the only son of Cecil and Rosalie (Closson) Emerson.
He attended school in Blue Hill and graduated from George Stevens Academy. He served four years in the US Air Force. He then went to work for the State of Maine Department of Transportation where he worked for 31 years. Upon retirement Dave worked several temporary jobs including summers at Acadia National Park and a volunteer driver for WHCA. He was a very familiar face at the Blue Hill Fair having worked there for 41 years. He also served as the constable for the town of Blue Hill for many years. Dave was a member of the American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge. He loved to hunt and take his children and grandchildren fishing.
Dave is survived by his three daughters, Phyllis Emerson and companion Victor Dorr of Gouldsboro, Jeanne Cloutier and husband Adam of Surry, and Brenda Varnum and husband Albert III of Blue Hill; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; aunt, Pauline Kreski of Brooklyn; and his former wife, Joy Emerson of Ellsworth.
Calling hours will be held 4:00-6:00, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 5th at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill with Rev. Rob McCall officiating.
