Obituary for Dari C. Burke

Dari C. Burke, 63, died December 17, 2006 in Mt. Desert. She was born December 18, 1942 in Birmingham, AL., the daughter of Robert D. Saunders and Gertrude B. Burke. Dari fought Lupus for many years and died suddenly from complications associated with this long time illness. She always imagined living in Maine and especially on Mt. Desert Island. Dari was trained to be a professional chef. She loved animals and she rescued many of them during her life. Dari was an avid reader and loved movies. She attended the Somesville Union Meeting House. She is survived by her son, Charles Rhodes of Mansfield Center, CT., and her daughter, Wendy Rhodes of Fort Lauderdale, FL. According to her wishes, there will be no services and she will be cremated. Contributions in Dari?s memory may be made to the Southwest Harbor Animal Shelter, PO Box 434, 15 Wood St., Southwest Harbor, ME 04679. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert.
