Obituary for Clara A. Judkins

ELLSWORTH – Clara A. Ellingwood Judkins, 91, passed away August 6, 2013 after a brief illness with her family by her side. She was born in Bangor, daughter of Harold F. and Daisy A. (Brown) Ellingwood.
She graduated from Bangor High School and Beals Business College. She married Winston C. Judkins, then serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. They moved to Massachusetts where Clara was employed by Polaroid Corp working as an administrative secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1981. She and her late husband, Winston, returned to Maine, settling in Ellsworth. Being an avid birder, Clara joined Stanwood Bird Club and served as president for two years, was a member of the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Club, served as secretary in the Ellsworth Memorial V.F.W. Post 109 for several years, served as president of the Seacoast Senior Citizens Club, beloved friend in her walkers’ group, member of Cooperative Extension University of Maine’s Senior companion Program for many years serving clients as a companion-helper which she found very fulfilling. After retiring, Clara enjoyed being near her family and was proud of their many accomplishments and successes.
She is survived by son Robert Judkins and wife Jacquelyn of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Louise A. Judkins of Sacramento, California; granddaughter, Cari Inkenbrandt and husband Robert of Middle River, MD; grandsons, Scott Lacy and Mark Lacy both of Sacramento, California, Christopher Judkins and Kevin Judkins both of Canaan; granddaughter, Karen Judkins of Lincoln, Nebraska; great-granddaughter Daniele (Inkenbrandt)Thompson and husband Michael; cousin, Betty Adams and husband Bruce; and nieces and nephews. Her husband Winston C. Judkins, brothers, Kenneth and Harold Ellingwood Jr., sister, Florence White, and daughter Lorraine A. Lacy predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A reception following will be announced at the service. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor at a later date.
