Obituary for Carol Roddy Jenkins

ELLSWORTH, ME – Carol R. Jenkins, 78, died peacefully at home on October 2, 2013. For the past year, she had been in the expert and compassionate care of Hancock County Homecare and Hospice, and Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County. Carol was born on June 7, 1935 in Jefferson City, MO, daughter of Roy E. and Mary B. Roddy.
She graduated from Lansdowne Alden High School, Lansdowne, PA, class of 1953. She married Peter H. Jenkins in 1960 and together they had three children. She considered her primary career to be mother, but she also worked as an office manager, a stewardess, a writer/editor, and a waitress. She was a thoughtful, loving mother and a generous friend. She will be remembered as strong, independent and whimsical lady with a playful love of language.
Carol is survived by daughters Pamela MacKenzie and her husband Scott of Roseville, MI, Allyson Perras and her husband Nelson and their long time friend Brian Harris of Bethlehem, GA; sons Tom Jenkins and his wife Theresa of Springfield, MA, Adam Jenkins and his wife Kate Cuffari of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren, Brianna Perras of Asheville, NC, Christianna Perras of Bethlehem, GA, Zachary and Caleb Jenkins of Springfield, MA; many nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 2pm on her birthday, June 7, 2014 in Eliot, Maine. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot, Maine. Gifts in Carol’s memory should be made to the charity of your choice in the spirit of ‘practicing random kindness’ that meant so much to her.
