The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Benjamin Lukens can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Tracy Newman Carroll
Condolence: I was sad to hear of Ben's passing a couple of weeks ago. He brought a lot of joy to my mother and father, Judy and Larry Newman. They shared much in common with their travels, their ties to Mt. Desert Island and humor! He was a good friend to both Judy and Larry and myself. To the family, I'm sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,
Tracy Newman Carroll

Condolence From: Louisa Newlin
Condolence: I was very sad to hear of Benny's death on May 26 in the June 6 MDI Islander. Although I did not see him in recent years, he and I were part of a group of teenagers who hung out together in Northeast Harbor for a few years. This group included among others Chaddy Denton, Tommy Bass, Joanie Mathieson ( now Platt, and someone I still see frequently), Josie Pepper and Sally Cox. We also saw each other less intensely in Philadelphia, especially during the "coming out party" season, which meant something quite different then! I remember Benny as a lively, humorous person, always cheerful, a great dancing partner, witty, and always fun to be with. Sorry to have no hard-copy addresses to write a proper condolence note to, but to all his family, sympathy.
Sincerely, Louisa Foulke Newlin "friend of his youth"
