Obituary for Barbara E. "Tootie" Gray

Barbara “Tootie” E. Gray, 55, died peacefully at home in Trenton surrounded by her family and friends, due to a lifelong illness, May 8, 2012. She was born March 31, 1957 in Salem, MA., the daughter of Edward P. and Barbara (Robbins) Gray.
Tootie’s passion was being surrounded by family and friends at camp on Toddy Pond and the 4th of July celebrations. She loved riding her wave runner, her road trips, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Tootie was an avid gardener and loved fishing with Scott.
She is survived by her soul mate of 18 years, Scott Ashey of Trenton. Two daughters;Veronica Verburgt and husband, Matt of Franklin and Patricia Staples and husband Todd of Bar Harbor. Grandchildren: Tim, Andrew, Whitney, Benjamin, Matthew and Hunter as well as previous step-children, Aaron, Amy and Christopher. Sister, Patricia Sawyer Donnell of Ellsworth, sister-in-law, Marsha Sawyer of Trenton and several nieces and nephews and many more that loved her.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Barbara Gray, brother, Harrison Sawyer and son-in-law, Benjie Abbott.
Friends are invited to call 5:00-7:00PM, Monday, May 14, 2012 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert, where funeral services will be held 1:00PM, Tuesday, May 15. Interment will be at Goose Cove Cemetery, Trenton.
