Obituary for Barbara Dunton

Bar Harbor
Barbara L. (Hibbard) Dunton, 80, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2015 at Westgate Manor in Bangor. She was born on October 3, 1935, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Dickey) Hibbard.
Barbara attended Mt. Desert High School and loved raising her three sons (Walter, Michael and David) as well as gardening and cooking, and the love of her many cats. She attended Husson College in 1954 where she studied Business Administration.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter “Skippy” Dunton Sr.; her sons, Walter Jr., and partner Dawn, of Northeast Harbor, Michael and David, both of Bar Harbor; grandchildren, Ocean and wife AnnMarie, Hannah and husband Jamie, and Joann and partner Ryan; great grandchildren, Acadia and Addison, Chandler, and Arai; sisters, Nancy and Patricia, and brother, Fred. She is predeceased by her parents; sisters, Norma and Frieda, and brother, Ronnie.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the loving care she received at Westgate Manor.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert, with Pastor Robert Maddocks presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605.
