Obituary for Ann Bunker Sargent Reddish

Ann Bunker Sargent Reddish, 73, died November 27, 2011 at Birch Bay in Bar Harbor of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born November 2, 1938 in Bangor the daughter of a boat builder, Raymond A. and Gail (Patterson) Bunker.
Ann attended school in Southwest Harbor and graduated from Pemetic High School in 1956. She went on to nursing school to become an LPN.
Ann worked as an LPN at from 1957-1971. She spent 8 years as an office nurse at the Medical Arts Building associated with Mt. Desert Island Hospital. She then later was a member of a home nursing and management team that went out in to the community. Ann then did odd jobs in various businesses, mostly bookkeeping.
Ann married Walter “Bud” Sargent in the early 50’s and they resided in Bar Harbor. When Bud died in 2003 Ann met up with her school friend Norris Reddish, who had just lost his wife. They married a year later and built a house together in Mt. Desert.
Ann always enjoyed singing and took voice lessons. She became a member of the church and choir at St. Savior Episcopal Church, of Bar Harbor. She also joined the Gilbert and Sullivan plays and the Acadia Choral Society. Ann also liked cats, playing the piano and laughing.
Ann is survived by her husband, Norris M. Reddish, of Mt. Desert; 2 sons: Glen A. Sargent and wife Mary, of Lincolnville and William R. Sargent and wife, Susan, of Trenton; a daughter, Sueann S. Salsbury and husband, R.”Sandy” Salsbury, III, of Town Hill; 4 grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, Colleen and Natalie; a sister, Susan B. Newman and husband, Jarvis, of Southwest Harbor and brother, Raymond Bunker, Jr. and wife Ellen, of White Hall, Montana; two step-children, Ryan Reddish and wife, Susan, of Canton, MA and Julianna Reddish Smith, of Mt. Desert and 3 step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her children’s father, Walter W. “Bud” Sargent, III, and a brother, Jamie Bunker.
Private Services will be held by the family. Those who desire may make contributions in Ann’s memory to St. Savior Episcopal Church, 41 Mt. Desert St. 04609.
