Obituary for Angelo "Joe" DiBella

FRANKLIN
Angelo “Joe” DiBella, 86, died January 17, 2013 at a Franklin healthcare facility. He was born in Swoyerville, PA, May 29, 1926 the son of Salvatore and Catina (DiJania) DiBella.
Angelo was educated in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. He served in the US Army and Air Force from 1944-1949 with service in the Philippines earning a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Victory WWII Medal, and Occupation Ribbon in Japan. Angelo met Eleanor A. Smith in Bangor and they married in 1948, they celebrated 65 years of marriage last July. He was employed for 33 years at Avco Lycoming in Connecticut before retiring in 1984. Joe was an avid fisherman. He spent many enjoyable hours fishing on Donnell Pond.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor Smith DiBella; sons, Samuel DiBella and companion Catherine Edne of Stamford, CT, Jeffrey DiBella of Wallingford, CT, Joel DiBella and wife Vanessa of West Haven, CT, Isaac Lopez of Cheshire, CT, Joseph DiBella of Sanford, ME; daughter, Kathleen Chamberlain and husband Bruce of Monroe, ME; grandchildren, Nicole Dibella of Bridgeport, CT, Caitlin Chamberlain of Somerville, MA, Clarke DiBella of Ansonia, CT., Daniel and Michael DiBella both of West Haven, CT, Nate Chamberlain of Girdwood, Alaska, Adam Lopez of Naugatuck, CT. and Faye DiBella, of Milford, CT.; sister, Carmella Fecso; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Joan Smith of Franklin; special brother-in-law, Charles Leavitt; sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Leavitt, Sandra Ingalls and Beverly Allen of Ellsworth; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jonathan DiBella; and a sister, Grace Carey.
A memorial service will be held 1pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Franklin United Methodist Church, 24 Main Street, Franklin with a reception to follow at the Franklin Veterans Club. Spring interment will be at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin.
