Obituary for Patricia Diana Speranzo

Patricia Diana  Speranzo
Patricia Diana Speranzo of Prospect Harbor, Maine, formerly of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, died peacefully at home on December 15, 2016 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on September 12, 1947, she was the daughter of Robert and Cecilia Willis.

Pat was raised in Pittsfield, attended local schools, Berkshire Community College, Albany Medical Center and received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts. Pat served as a nurse in the Emergency Room at the former Hillcrest Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center; and several area nursing homes for many years before retiring to her beloved coast of Maine. In her retirement, Pat was the embodiment of environmental stewardship by volunteering countless hours at Acadia National Park. She loved being close to nature, hiking, biking, gardening and keeping a watchful eye on the harbor outside of her home in her final years.

Patricia leaves her devoted husband of 50 years, Nicholas; her loving children Karen Golann and her husband, Evan; Lori Speranzo; and Christopher Speranzo and his wife, Jenelle; granddaughter, Nicole Speranzo; and her brother Robert Willis. In addition Patricia leaves many dear friends that she made during her lifetime living in Massachusetts and Maine.

A memorial service will be planned for the spring. Donations can be made to Friends of Acadia, P.O. Box 45, Bar Harbor, ME or the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
