Obituary for Joseph J. "Joe" Young

Swans Island
Joseph"Joe" J. Young, 62, died January 17, 2013, after a battle with cancer. He was born March 30, 1950 in Providence, RI, the son of Eugene H. and Harriet D. (Leamy) Young.
Joe left school at a young age to help support his family by working at a poultry plant. He later moved to Michigan to live with his aunt. After returning to RI, he was involved in the food industry, whenever possible, as he had a love of food and precise presentation.
After moving to Maine in 2003, he met MaryAnne Bunker and soon he moved to Swans Island with her. Shortly after, they were married.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, MaryAnne and his large extended family from Maine to Rhode Island.
He will be missed by all the creatures and wildlife that he and MaryAnne have “adopted” over the years, especially by their cat, Fred.
Services of remembrance will be held at a later date.
Contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Swans Island Ambulance Service, PO Box 7, Swans Island, ME 04685.
Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com
