Donald Roy  Butts
Donald Butts, 81, of Ellsworth passed away peacefully at Courtland Rehabilitation Center in Ellsworth on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Donald was born in Ellsworth on December 30, 1934, the third of four sons of Louis and Helen (Potas) Butts. He attended local public schools, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1956.

Donald chose to stay close to home during his life, and devotedly cared for his mother until her death in 2005. He was employed many years by Merrill's Blueberry Cold Storage Facility. In his leisure time he grew to love classical music and attended many concerts in Bangor and Portland. He also acquired an extensive collection of classical music recordings. In 2006, Donald moved to Meadowbrook Apartment Complex where he made many friends and met his loving companion, Charlotte Bainbridge, who brought much happiness to his remaining years.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brothers Eugene and Merrill. He is survived by his brother Charles and wife Johanna Frissell of Brunswick, nieces Dr. Cheryl Sanfacon and her husband Dennis of Ardmore, PA, Stefanie Steckerl and her husband Shally of Norcross, GA, Lissa Merrill and her husband Andrew of West Paris, Maine, and nephew, Michael Butts of Bucksport. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Charlotte Bainbridge of Ellsworth and several great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Courtland Rehabilitation and Healthcare for their excellent compassionate care of Donald.
