Life Story for Jeffrey Wayne Reed

Jeffrey Wayne Reed
Jeffrey Wayne Reed, 65, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2016 at Mount Desert Island Hospital. He was born on January 11, 1951 at the same hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine, the son of Raymond W. Reed Jr. and Margaret Tilden Reed. He spent his entire life in the hometown that he loved, Southwest Harbor.

Jeff graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in 1969 with the first graduating class after consolidation. He attended the University of Maine, at Orono. One of his first jobs was hauling blueberries for Nick Moody. He went on to work with trucks in many capacities. He managed the lobster company he worked for. When he left the lobster hauling company he became a partner in the ownership of Southwest Lobster and Fish. Upon the business being sold, he went back to Doug Gott and Sons as a project manager, which is where he spent his last working day. He was a man of many talents, mostly self- taught. His wife thought he could do anything! He was conscientious in all that he did.

Reed and wife Katie of Charleston, SC, his grandchildren Nora and Elias Paulsen whom he adored, his sister Janice Staples and husband Sput of Swan’s Island, sister Karen Reed of Bar Harbor, and many nieces and nephews.
