The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ernest Brooks can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Coast Guard memories

Ernie and i were best friends from 1959 on the CG Cutter Frederick Lee until about 197? when he moved to Bar Harber. We lost touch when he moved and all my googles of Ernest Haskel Brooks came up empty until August 2016 and I found him too late.

I was working at Electrick Boat in 1963 and Ernie stayed with us in RI while he refubished the Officers Club at the Sub Base in Groton CT. He would drive me home in the Jeep from time to time and i would work with him at the club when he was finishing the final section.

He painted the fishing boat New Bedford for my wedding present and along with a Birch tree and landscape painting are among my most precious possesions.

I am sorry i did not find you last year. RIP my friend.

Bill
