Obituary for Velma E. Pollard

Otis/Bangor
Velma E. Pollard, 98, died Dec. 27, 2015 in Bangor. She was born in Waltham, April 26, 1917 the daughter of Leroy and Mildred (Haslam) Dority.
Velma was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, class of 1936. She spent many happy years living on Tannery Hill in Mariaville. She was an honored guest at the parade and festivities of Mariaville's 175th anniversary celebration August 20, 2011. She also lived in Otis after the death of her husband, Thomas. She was a member of the Pine Tree Society of Bath, Tri Town Garden Club of Otis and Mariaville, Extension of Otis and Mariaville, and Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary of Ellsworth.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Clift of Bangor; granddaughter, Denise Smith and husband Fred of Kenduskeag; sister, Norma Daniels and her husband Jim of Washington state; niece, Jane McDermott of Hampton NH; nephew, Ray Drennan of Gouldsboro, and many caring friends and neighbors in Otis and Mariaville. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Thomas; her parents; sister, Madeline Smith; and brother, Olin.
A graveside service will be planned at a later date. Contributions in Velma’s memory may be made to Birdsacre, P O Box 485 Ellsworth, ME 04605.
