Obituary for Violet Dudzik

Violet Dudzik passed away peacefully at Birch Bay Village in Bar Harbor on November 30, 2011 of complications of Alzheimer’ s Disease. She was born in Farmington, CT, November 14, 1922 to Edward and Katie Belle Quigley.
She grew up in Farmington, keeping the friends she made there for the duration of their lives. She received her associate’s degree from the University of Hartford, and eventually began work in an accounting office where she met her husband, Albert Dudzik. They were married October 1, 1949, and built a home in Southington, CT where they raised their two daughters, Deborah and Mary. Violet’s pride and joy were her children, her grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed volunteer work, particularly her work for the Bradley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. There she organized and started a gift shop that remains to this day. She was an excellent bowler, and enjoyed bowling on a women’s bowling league for many years. Some of her favorite times were summers at the family beach house in Saybrook, CT, where her yard was the gathering place for a generation of children who grew to call her “Dudzie”.
Violet is survived and profoundly missed by her daughters, Deborah Dudzik of Southington, CT, and Mary Dudzik and son-in-law, David Painter; beloved granddaughters, Maggie Painter and Annie Painter, all of Bar Harbor. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Budge and sister, Sally.
A memorial service will be held at Birch Bay Village. The family wishes to thank the staff there for their tireless, compassionate, and tender care.
