Obituary for Timothy S. "Tim" Ranquist

Timothy S. Ranquist, 60, died December 6, 2019 after a long struggle with COPD. Tim died at home with family at his bedside. He was born, November 9, 1959 in Bar Harbor, the son of Frederick W. and Beulah G. (Withee) Ranquist.

Tim had “saltwater in his veins”. He was at peace when he was at sea working on scallop and fish draggers. Scallop fishing was his thing; rumor is he could “keep a shell in the air all the time”. Tim had nearly a lifelong struggle with addictions, not the least of them cigarettes. In his last years he returned to his faith in Jesus Christ and overcame his struggles with addiction.

He loved funny socks, reading James Patterson, life savers, sweets, including lemon pie and he made great fried fish. Tim had a big heart and was a kind and generous person. He was much loved and will be missed.

He is survived by one brother, Leslie Ranquist and wife, Rhonda of Swan’s Island, five sisters, Leah Henderson and Donna Donley of Scarborough, Linda Reinhardt of Hancock, Jean Ranquist of Swan’s Island and Norene Bishop of Thomaston, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Tim was predeceased by his parents and three brothers-in-law, Ronnie, Bill and Bill.

Friends are invited to call 10:30-Noon, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Advent Christian Church, Swan’s Island, with Reverend Joshua Greene officiating, where a funeral service will follow at Noon. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Atlantic.

Contributions in Tim’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, Swan’s Island, ME 04685.
