Ruth Virginia Stevens, 86, passed away peacefully July 31, 2019 in Ellsworth. She was born in Brooksville, August 23, 1932 the daughter of Wallace A. and Mary (Grindle) Stevens.
Ruth attended Brooksville schools. She was well known as Brooksville’s Candy Lady; her needhams and peanut butter balls were a big hit everywhere and she loved to cook. Ruth worked for many years at the Blue Hill hospital. She was honored as the Grand Marshal of Brooksville’s Bicentennial Parade.
She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Laurence, Arthur, Roscoe, Marion, Russell and Isabel Jordan; nephews James and Warren Stevens.
Calling hours will be 2:00-4:00 pm, August 4, 2019 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am, August 5, 2019 at Mount Rest Cemetery, Brooksville.
