Obituary for Ronald D. Taylor

Ronald D. Taylor passed away September 1st, 2019, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of John and Mary (Siondecine) Taylor. He grew up in Ellsworth where he was a proud member of the 1954 High School State Champion Basketball Team. Following graduation he served three years in the Marine Corps ending his enlistment as a sergeant. He later graduated from Husson University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and the University of Maine with a Masters Degree in Administration. He taught school at Deer Isle-Stonington and Mt. View High Schools. He later created a house painting and restoration business that lasted for more than a decade until he decided to move on to harvesting marine worms that were sold all over the country to happy fishermen.
He was a loving and supportive husband to Donna for 50 years and together they ran the local TOYS FOR TOTS program that brought tremendous joy to needy children. He was blessed to share adventures with her ranging from Hawaii all the way to Switzerland.
He is survived by his loving children, Andrew and partner Paula, Pamela and Richard who will dearly miss his jokes, his stories and his giving spirit. Survivors include sisters- in-law Elizabeth, Valerie and partner Brian, and Miranda and husband Robert; and special life-long friend Richard Merrill. He was predeceased by his parents, brother John Taylor, sister Janice Fitzpatrick and daughter Teresa Addison.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 7th, 2019, at Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls. Interment will be private.
