Obituary for Ronald E. "Sarge" Gott

BASS HARBOR-- Ronald E. “Sarge” Gott, 76, died Sept. 20, 2012 at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born in Bernard, Oct. 25, 1935, the son of Ronald W. and Ava B. (Rummill) Gott.
Sarge was a 1954 graduate of Pemetic High School. He was a Tech Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force and retired after twenty years of service. Sarge was a member of the Tremont #77 and Scottish Rite Bodies, Anah Temple Shrine, Hancock County Shrine Club, and a combined 50 year member of the USAF and Tremont Fire Departments.
Sarge and his sister, Hazel Lunt, owned and operated Gott’s Store in Southwest Harbor for 24 years. He enjoyed visiting with customers, friends and family at “The Store”. He also enjoyed hunting, listening to the scanner, and especially enjoyed his trips with his wife to Nashville, TN, Branson, MO. and Tampa, FL. He loved watching high school basketball and Boston Red Sox games.
Sarge is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann (Orcutt) Gott of Bass Harbor; son, Ronald Gott, Jr. and his wife Lanan, of Tampa, FL; daughters, Deborah Gott of Southwest Harbor, Catherine Gott of Manchester, NH; grandchildren, Darcy, Jordan, Adam, Andrew, Cameron, and Katelyn; brother, Stanley Gott and his wife, Sandra of Southwest Harbor; sisters, Hazel Lunt and her husband Carroll of Bass Harbor, Barbara Pettegrow and her husband, Wyman of Southwest Harbor; sister-in-law, Sylvia Gott of Seal cove; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Douglas in 2011.
Friends may visit with the family 4:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main Street, Mt. Desert. A graveside service with full military honors will be 10:30 am, Monday, Sept. 24 at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
