Obituary for Robert A. Lunt

Ellsworth
Robert (Bob) Lunt went to be with his Lord July 11, 2015 while being held by his son. He was born the son of Wallace and Lenora (Higgins) Lunt of Frenchboro and Southwest Harbor.
Bob graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1962 when he then became a lobsterman and started seining for herring with his brother Carroll. In September, 1974, he moved his family from Frenchboro to Tremont where he went to work for the Astor Estate in Northeast Harbor as a gardener for 21 years. He then continued to be a caretaker for the Hamner Estate from 1995-2001. As his health started to decline, he retired from caretaking and went to work at the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria where he made many friends and had a joke to tell every day. In 2008, he left the hospital to be fully retired.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years as of July 28th, Earlene F. Lunt; children, Kevin Lunt of Hancock, Bobbi Abraham of Ellsworth, and Karen Bowden and husband Greg of Penobscot; grandchildren, Briana and Logan Lunt of Hancock, Cameron Wilkinson of Ellsworth, Ross Bowden and wife Kristina of Penobscot, and Josh Wilkinson and wife Ada of Japan; two “adopted” step-grandchildren, Julie Whitcomb and son Kole; great-grandchildren, Selena, Serenity, and Paxton all of Ellsworth; brother, Carroll Lunt and wife Hazel of Bass Harbor; many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sadly missed by his best friend Tom Farley. He was predeceased by his parents; sons, Gary Lunt and Ralph A. Lunt; sister, Hilda Newman; and brother, Al Lunt.
Visitation with the family will be 6:00 pm, Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 50 School St., Ellsworth. A celebration of life will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, July 18th at the church. A parade of boats and sprinkling of ashes will be Saturday, July 25th at Frenchboro. Family and friends will meet at Bass Harbor at 10:00 am.
