Rob Hilbrink, the elegant Dutchman who built a beautiful life for himself in Maine, left us on February 16th, 2021. Born in the Netherlands in 1948, Rob was able to travel the world as a young man, through Europe and overseas to Boston, before settling in the tranquil harbor of Corea. His adopted home was quite a good a reflection of Rob as a person - quiet but brimming with life and tales just under the surface.
As a man, he was someone who had the gift of listening and genuine interest in other people’s lives and thoughts. His varied passions, from the jazz musician Chet Baker to the wild turkeys who roamed across his backyard, spoke to a spirited personality and that of a life well enjoyed.
He will be very dearly missed and always remembered by his friends, family, and community. He was a solid presence in all of our lives and a constant reminder for those who were close to him of pride, dignity and a very true sort of kindness that was unique to him. While there will be no formal services held at this time, if you knew Rob we would love for you to send him a wish for peace on his next journey.
