Richard A. Emery, 81 of Franklin, passed away peacefully at his home sur­rounded by his loving family. He served in the U.S. Army and did two tours in Viet­nam. He returned home and started his own plumbing and heating business in the town of Franklin. Richard traveled the East Coast as a union pipe fitter until his retirement. He enjoyed many years at the family camp on Molasses Pond. He was an avid sports fan. In his retire­ment he loved spending time working around his home in Franklin.
Richard is survived by daughters Joan McDevitt of Franklin, Jackie (Emery) Battle of Buford, Ga., sons Staley McDevitt of Franklin, Clarence and Joan McDevitt of Eastbrook, David and Dana McDevitt of Hancock, his brother and wife, William and Judy Emery of Okeecho­bee, Fla., and sister-in-law Carolyn Yeo of Eastbrook. He has eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and neph­ews. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Connie Emery, sister Pat Pawlak, son-in-law Wayne Berry, daughter-in­law Sherrie McDevitt and grandson DJ Battle. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the Charles L. Yeo Community Center in East­brook from 4-6 p.m. on June 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hancock County Hospice.
