Read R. Hall 87, walked from this life into the presences of His Lord and Savior, in the early morning of September 14, 2023, at home in Otis with family around him. He was born September 23, 1935, in Brooks, the son of Leroy E. and Frances J. (Read) Hall.

Read attended school in Brooks and went to Morse Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Navy on a ship during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the Navy, he went to work for Hackett Industries in Mass., where he became a refrigeration technician working his way up to their top refrigeration expert. He was sent all over the country as a result of this and was the lead tech for the whole eastern coast for the company. He later moved back to Maine, went to work for R.M. Flagg in Bangor, worked in the woods, and later started Read and Cheryl’s Cleaning business for 30 years. Read love to go dancing with his wife Cheryl at the VFW Hall in Ellsworth, after retirement he set up a small woodworking shop and made time out chairs, many of which are in the homes of his nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved to collect hats and banks which decorated the walls of his bedroom. If you ever met Read he would leave a lasting impression on you as he was a jokester loving to tell jokes and stories.

Read is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, of 45 years this December; a daughter Kelly; a son Russell Allen and Kathy of West Enfield CT.; he was a loving father to his stepchildren, Daniel Meshach and wife Pam of Otis, Chester Kimble of Otis and Kimberly (Kimble) Reyes and her husband Joshua of Kendallville, ID whom he was very proud of. He is also survived by his sister Lee Steele of Eastbrook; and brother Randolph (Randy) and wife Becky of Dixmont; grandchildren, Adam and Ryan of CT, Derek and Kyle of IN., and a very special grandson that he raised as his own Chester Kimble of Otis, Jessica and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Boone, Delilah, Dustin, He was blessed with many nieces and nephews that thought the world of him. He was predeceased by his parents’; three brothers, Bernard, Ralph and Eric; and a daughter Kimberly; a son Brian; and a great-grandson Stone.

Donations may be made in Read's memory to Christian Ridge Church, 53 Christian Ridge Rd. Ellsworth.

A service of remembrance will be held on October 7, 2023, 3:00 PM at the Christian Ridge Church in Ellsworth with the Reverend’s Bill Brann and Randolph Hall Officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery in Newport, ME
