Obituary for Peter B. Griffin

Franklin

Peter B. Griffin, 67, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2023, with his beloved best friend Diesel at his side. He was born February 8, 1956, in Bangor, the son of Charles S. and Jeannette E. (Martin) Griffin of Hancock.

At a young age, Peter found his passion for long haul trucking after a short-lived career in the woods. He drove across the countryside, purchased his own truck and was able to fulfil his dream of seeing all fifty states before he retired. He fell in love with the Midwest and west coast, visiting them the most, making so many lifelong friends along the way, capturing the country's beauty, taking thousands of pictures over his career. Peter had a gift of making friends wherever he traveled. He had a true love of nature and enjoyed fishing, camping, bonfires, hunting, boating, and driving his skidder. He was a man of few words with a heart of gold, always had a smile and loved to make others laugh along with him. Peter also had a special love for all animals including his very special fish tank and the mamma bear with her cubs that visited him yearly. Although he never married or had children of his own, he had a long list of children that he loved as his own, each with their own special bond, including Nathan, Joe, and Althea. He will forever be missed but his family knows he is at peace.

Peter is survived by his brothers Scott Griffin of Franklin, Charles Griffin of Cherryfield, sisters Barbara Tibbetts of Franklin, Lorna Thomas, her husband Gordon of Hancock, and Kimberly Baldwin, her husband Gary of Franklin. Nephews/nieces Gordon Jr, James, Rozie, Lori, Melissa, Kitty, Heather, April, Amanda and several great nieces and nephews. Peter is predeceased by his parents, brothers David and Kelly, sister-in-law Linda, nephews Joey, Tony, Raymond, and Scott Jr whom he missed dearly.

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on January 13th at the Franklin Vets Club, 4 Cards Crossing, Franklin. The family are asking for those who would like to donate to please do so in planting a tree in his memory or donate to the Franklin Fire Department, 1 Fire House Lane, Franklin, 04634 as he was so passionate for both.
