Obituary for Patricia Lillian Pollard

Patricia Lillian Pollard, "Barry" to her many friends and family, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2019. She was born in London, England on September 26th, 1925. She was a pioneer in the early days of television makeup for the BBC, where she eventually rose to "Head of Department" and made up such luminaries as Winston Churchill and Laurence Olivier.
She spent the war years at Great Malvern working on the radar project that was so instrumental in the Allied victory. This was also where she met her husband Brian, whom she moved to the States to marry in 1960. They eventually settled in Westport, CT, where they raised their family and spent weekends and summers on their beloved Hinckley Pilot "Eclipse". The great adventure began in 1987 when they retired to their lovely and newly completed log home in Somesville, ME and the Eclipse became a fixture at the head of Somes Sound and all points Eastward. Barry is survived by son Austin, his wife Shari & their five boys. Daughter Susan, her husband Steve & grand-doggy "the Artemis". She was cherished by all and will be deeply missed by many. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John the Divine in Southwest Harbor, ME on Thurs. September 26th at 2pm with a small reception to follow. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Johns Church, 315 Main St., Southwest Harbor, ME 04679 or Alzheimer's Association, 383 US Rt. One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074, would be received gratefully.
Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mt. Desert. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com
