Obituary for Mildred Katherine Morrell
Mildred Katherine Morrell, 81, died April 27, 2019 in Portland. She was born May 3, 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Currie) Colchie.
Katherine married her husband, James Morrell on August 15, 1965 in New York.
She owned and operated a preschool called the Morrell School in New York City. She taught at the Boston Graduate School for psychoanalysis, and at the Center for Group Studies in New York City. Katherine served on the board of consultants at the Eliot Group Institute.
When Katherine wasn’t teaching, she loved to craft art. She worked in several different mediums including painting, collage and created unique tapestries, some of which were featured in several art galleries in New York.
She is survived by two daughters; Lauren Morrell and her husband, Jason Goodrich of Portland, Oregon and Erika Morrell of Los Angeles, CA. One brother, Thomas Colchie and his wife, Elaine of Brooklyn, NY. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, James.
Graveside services will be held 1:00PM, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
