Obituary for Mildred S. "The Bread Lady" Jordan

Lamoine

Mildred S. Jordan, “The Bread Lady” at 89 passes peacefully away at her lifelong home in Lamoine on July 25, 2023. Born on December 30, 1933, the daughter of Evelyn and Emery Smith.
Mildred graduated from Ellsworth High School, class of 1953. She was a member of Lamoine Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Pioneer Girl leader, volunteered at Courtland Rehab for over 20 years, Board Member of The Loaves and Fishes Food Panty of Ellsworth, coordinating volunteer shifts for The Food Panty Booth at the Blue Hill Fair, and member of the Lamoine Historical Society. Helped/coordinated numerous women's group events, fire department suppers, and cookouts, and volunteered at The Grand. She enjoyed hosting the Church's Family picnics at the Jordan’s Green Lake Camp!
She worked for the telephone company, Maine Coast Memorial Hospital until marrying her beloved Jerry of 54 years. She was a stay-at-home Mom and a babysitter for numerous families. She started a bread business out of her home and became known as “The Bread Lady!”.
Mildred is survived by her 3 children, Michael, Timothy and his wife Lori, Daughter Jeannine, and her husband Skip all of Lamoine, 5 Grandchildren, Nathaniel, Michelle, Matthew, Lukas and Jakob, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, Jerry, her parents, Evelyn and Emery Smith.
There will be a celebration of life on August 19, 2023, from 1 to 4pm at the Lamoine Baptist Church.
