Obituary for Mildred E. Butler

Mildred E. Butler, affectionately called Mittie, Bebe or Nana Lala, passed peacefully in her sleep at home on June 18, 2020, after a long illness. She was born at home in Seal Cove on February 22, 1948, to Harland S. Butler and Agnes M. (Harper) Butler.

Mittie was the third of 10 children, attended school at Pemetic High, and worked at various careers, including Hinckley Yachts, in-home health care, and, finally at EMR Transfer Station where she greeted customers with a cheery “hello dear!”

Mittie loved her family, and she loved her friends like family. She was a mother to anyone in need. She loved to cook and feed her family, garden, watch the hummingbirds, knitting, and the ever-changing view out her window of “her mountain.” She loved to play cards or cribbage with visitors and her grandchildren.

Mittie is survived by her sons, William R. Young, Jr (“Chopper”) and his partner, Allison Paine, and Morgan S. Black and his fiancée, Megan Bennoch, grandchildren Crystal Nolan and her husband Max, Andy Young, Eli, Leo and Emelia Paine, and Warrick and Alistar Black, one greatgrandson Chase Nolan, siblings, Andrew, Peter and Molly, sister-in-laws Doreen and Sherri, and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family.

She was predeceased by her son, Tim, her life partner, Ralph Dunbar, her parents, siblings Bonnie, Gwennie, Rosie, Queenie, Carroll, and David and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2020 at Center Cemetery, Cape Road, Seal Cove with a celebration of life potluck picnic to follow at the Algerine Coast Picnic Area.
