Obituary for Michael Joseph "Mike" DiGangi

Ellsworth

Michael J. DiGangi, 69, passed on October 25, 2022, in Ellsworth. He was born August 19, 1953, in Rutland, VT, the son of Joseph and Patricia (Harrison) DiGangi.

Mike graduated from Mt. Anthony High School, Bennington, VT and attended Norwich University. As a child Mike enjoyed the outdoors, often riding his bike to go fishing. He excelled in athletics in high school playing football as a lineman and was a competitive slalom skier. He eventually settled in Maine where he met his partner, Judy, of 25 years.

For many years Mike worked as a flooring installer and finished his career as a property manager for a real estate company. He continued his love of the outdoors by hunting, fishing, and camping. His interests were tying fly fishing lures, collecting baseball cards, and rooting for the Yankees. Later he found and loved the game of golf, being one of the few who could tell the story of the day he got a hole in one. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, and any gathering that would allow for an abundance of food, lobsters, and Italian food in particular. On the exterior he was tough but was kind and helpful to anyone who needed a hand. He was a very proud and loving father and grandfather. Macie appreciated the special attention from Grampy Mike.

Mike is survived by, and will be missed by, his daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Manganaro of Belmont, MA, their children, (his cherished grandchildren), Addison, Michael and Daniel, and Farah DiGangi of Barnstable, MA, his brother John (Ina) DiGangi of Belle Meade, NJ, his loving partner, Judy Tucker, her children Jeremy (Karen) Tucker, their children Tessa and Marshall, Jyl (Andrey) Karachev, Jay Tucker, his daughter Macie, Jennifer Tucker and Henry Bauer, their daughter Nora, nephew Joseph (Mary) DiGangi and their son Harrison of Levittown, PA, and his brother’s stepchildren, Greg, Courtney, and Kaitlyn Parks, and Kelsey (Alex) Kunz. He will be missed by his favorite golf partner, Wayne Bragdon, Linda Mason, Neil McKay, Mary, and Peter Wood.
