Mary Ford Weber, a long-term resident of Brooklin Maine died while sleeping on March 17, at the age of 102.
Mary was born in her Brooklin home and she attended Brooklin schools until college. She graduated with a BA degree from the University of Maine in Orono. Upon graduation she taught English, French, and Latin at various high schools throughout the state.
After marrying Charles Weber in 1941, she moved to New York where she was active in church organizations, school PTAs, and Scouting. She attended the First Reformed Church of College Point and was active in their fundraisers until she returned to Maine.
Mary held Brooklin’s Gold Handled Cane as the oldest resident. During her later years in Maine she was an active member of the Brooklin Keeping Society. She excelled at identifying people in old photos. Her talk “Memories of Brooklin Maine” had a full house crowd, and it has been viewed over 1,000 times on YouTube.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Toni and Joseph Smith, her niece Brenda Mullen, her sister-in-law Betty Billings, her step-brother Norman Billings, and her dear friend Marilyn Conary.
A celebration of her life will occur in late July.
