Obituary for Mary Florence Beaudoin

Mary Florence (Jacques) Beaudoin, 91, of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully in Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital, Ellsworth, February 14, 2020, following a brief illness. She was the widow of Armand H. Beaudoin, who died in 1997. She was born March 16, 1928, in South Ashburnham, MA, the daughter of the late Lionel and Maria (Belanger) Jacques, and raised in that town and later in Leominster, MA. She spent the first third of her life in her native Massachusetts, the second in Connecticut (mostly in Derby) and the last third in her favorite state, Maine. After raising four children and then working in manufacturing and as a supervisor, she and her husband in 1988 retired to an antique farmhouse they had bought on Route 3 in Trenton. Here she lived for more than 25 years, running the Elite Bear costume shop, which outfitted many a Halloween party in the 1990's. At 70 years old she fulfilled a long-time dream by completing her GED degree.
To her many relations she was always the beloved Meme, Aunt Flo, or just Matante, and her home was the scene of constant gatherings. She was an active communicant at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth and with the women’s auxiliary of the VFW, to which her husband had belonged. She was a skilled seamstress, crocheter and maker of ceramics.
She is survived by her son Andre Beaudoin of Hot Springs, AR; her son Henry Beaudoin of Trenton; her son Paul Beaudoin and his wife, Kelly, of Seymour, CT; her son-in-law, Ronald Karr, of Pepperell, MA; her grandchildren Emilie, Matthew, and Jeannine Karr of Bellevue, WA; Shana Suarez and her husband, Yamil, of Middletown, CT; Ariana Beaudoin of Little Rock, AR; Pierre Beaudoin and his wife, Sarah, of Madison, WI; Joshua Beaudoin of Derby, CT; a great-grandson, Eli Suarez; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Karr; and her brothers Lionel W. and Peter Jacques.
Calling hours will be held 10:00-11:00 February 21, 2020 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth with a service at 11:00. A reception will follow the service. Burial at Mt. Calvary will be held in the spring.
