Obituary for Marney L. Miles-Pineda
Sullivan
Marney Miles-Pineda, 76, died at her home in Sullivan January 7, 2020. She was born in Wareham, MA, June 1, 1943, the daughter of Harris L. and Mary (Simmons) McLean, Jr. Marney had suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for the past sixteen years.
She graduated from Ellsworth High School class of 1961. She attended the University of Maine for two years and two years at the University of New Hampshire graduating with a degree in Art Education in 1965. She moved to San Francisco where she taught until retiring. Marney received her Master’s in Education from the University of San Francisco. She truly loved San Francisco and enjoyed everything it had to offer during the fifty years she lived there. She returned home to Sullivan for summer vacations and moved home in 2017 to spend her final time.
Marney had many interests including speaking fluent Spanish, salsa dancing, Celtic history, painting, cats (of which she had five) and many friends. She knew how to have fun and experience life at its fullest, a true “free spirit”.
She is survived by her sister, Rosamond McLean of Sullivan; son, Jessen Wehrwein and wife Julie of Newburyport, MA, their children, Aquinnah and Keegan and son, Joshua Wehrwein and wife Melanie of Sedgwick, their children, Aria and Caden; daughter, Andrea Schultz and granddaughter, Piper Schultz of Fresno, CA; dear friends, Rose Vargus of Gilroy, CA, Marnie Schulz of Laconia, NH, Caroline Hutchinson of Lucerne, Holly Shea of Ellsworth and Eileen Hulsman of Surry. These friends helped to make her last few years bearable. For the past eight years, Marney was cared for by Vilma Tobyan of Hollister, CA and the Phillipines.
A gathering of friends and family will be held in the spring at her home in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marney’s memory may be made to the Urann Home Project, P O Box 1, Sullivan 04664. This is a Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society renovation project.
