Obituary for Mark J. Hamlet

Mark J. Hamlet, 80, died January 20, 2021 at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. He was born June 28, 1940 the son of Leonard A. and Gertrude R. (McCarthy) Hamlet.
Mark graduated from Lemoyne College, Syracuse, NY with a BA in Political Science. Mark worked as an Assistant Ski School Director at Greek Peak, Courtland, NY after college and eventually becoming a real estate broker and later a mortgage broker with Citizen’s Savings Bank. When he and his wife, Mary moved to Maine 25 years ago he worked for Armand Auclair of Coastline Construction for many years. He also enjoyed skiing at Greek Peak and Sugarloaf, Carrabassett Valley.
Mark was a member and President of Rotary International, served as President of the Board of Realtors both of Ithaca, NY and a 50-year member if the Eastern Professional Ski Instructors of America. He enjoyed skiing, sailing, carpentry, reading and living in Maine, especially at his camp on Abrams Pond, Eastbrook.
Mark is survived by his wife of 47 years Mary (Abraham) Hamlet: a brother Stephen Hamlet of Palm Springs, CA: a sister Marilyn McFall of Rock Hill, SC.; a niece and many cousins.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be announced at a later date.
