Marie Garrett Nolf passed away at the age of 102 on September 27th, 2023, at MDI hospital in Mt. Desert, Maine. She was the widow of Dr. Harold Nolf, the love of her life, whom she married in 1943 and celebrated 50 years of marriage. In 1986, they retired to Somesville, Maine, where they continued their volunteer work at the Arcady Music Society, Somesville Union Meeting House , the Abbe Museum and were also members of a hiking and book club.

Marie and Harold were avid travelers, giving their children the opportunity to learn about many parts of the world. They traveled to Ireland, England, Germany, Egypt, Mexico, Canada, Israel, Italy, and France. After their trips they enjoyed sharing their experiences and photos with community members at the many lectures they would host.
