Obituary for Marie Clifford (Grant)

Cape Rosier
Marie G. Clifford, 86, died at her home on October 20, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born October 16, 1937, in Stillwater, the daughter of Ronald T. and Rita (Dupuis) Grant.

Marie was a wonderful mother. Her family was first and foremost in her heart and life. They were the center of her world, and she, the center of her family’s world. Marie loved to cook and was well known for her cookies, squares, yeast rolls, and many other things. She was a member of the PTA while her children attended school, participating in all of their activities. She never hesitated in helping her family or friends whether helping with childcare or by always having a seat at her table to share a meal or just a chat. Always there for her community. She both baked for and attended every benefit breakfast and dinner held within the peninsula. She arranged and cooked for countless island picnics and deep-sea fishing trips.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Earl W. Clifford, Sr.; a son Earl, Jr. and wife Gayle; two daughters, Rosemarie Kane and husband Scott, Susanne Dodge and husband Charles, all of Cape Rosier; six grandchildren, Dennis Wood, Jr and husband Dominick., Jamie Wood and husband Barry, Hannah Gray and husband Matt, Alisa Dodge, Daniel Dodge and wife Veronica and Elizabeth Clifford and partner Dylan; five great-grandchildren, Ava Gray, one angel Indaca Dodge, Silas Dodge, Piper Gray, Adaline Dodge and C.J. Wood; several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by great- granddaughter Indaca Dodge, brother Ronald Grant, Jr., and her parents.

Graveside services will be held 10 am, Sat., October 28, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery, Harborside. A reception will follow at the Brooksville School with many of the treats that she used to make and music that she loved!
