Obituary for Margaret H Everly
Brewer/Mount Desert
Margaret H. Everly, 94, passed away January 24, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. She was born in La Porte, Indiana, May 17, 1928 the daughter of Eugene and Elsie (Ulrich) Galloway.
She graduated from La Porte High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Melvin E. Everly, in 1948 and were married for 63 years. Margaret worked as a church secretary for 37 years; first at Immanuel Lutheran in Glenview, IL and later at St. Andrews in Ellsworth. She was a volunteer for Island Connections and a member of the Footloose Friends hiking group. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Margaret was devoted to her faith. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang at both of her churches and The Lutheran Choir of Chicago.
She is survived by her children, James R. Everly of Trenton, Linda M. Everly of Brewer; grandchildren, Jessica Creel and husband Daniel of Cary, Il., Jeremy Everly of Gouldsboro, Nichole Everly and husband Jayson Knowles of Winter Harbor, and Samuel Bova of Glenview, Il.; a sister Winifred Lambert; great-grandchildren, Vance, Kayla, Savannah, Aspen, and Sienna; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin, a sister, Carol Vann and grandson, Nicholas Bova.
