Mabel “Mae” E. Pelley, 86, died March 8, 2023, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born September 5, 1936, in Brunswick the daughter of James M. and Madeline J. (Preble) Elwell.
Mae married to Daniel J. Pelley for 48 years. They had a band together for 30 years known as Dan & Mae Pelley and The Plainsman Country Band. Mae also worked at Jasper’s Restaurant for 19 years as a waitress.
Mabel is survived by a son Graydon Lewis of Freeport: a daughter Kathy Emerton of Blue Hill; 2 brothers, James Elwell of Brunswick, and Kenneth of South China; 2 sisters, Jane Moody of Freeport and Nancy Smith of Lisbon; many grandchildren; her best friend, Polly Young of Surry. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 2015 and her son Daniel Pelley, Jr.
Spring interment will be with her husband at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
The family suggests that those who desire may make contributions in Mae’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
