Obituary for M. Phillip Finley Jr.

M. Phillip Finley, Jr., (Phil), 61, died unexpectedly due to complications of juvenile diabetes on October 7, 2013 at EMMC, Bangor. He was born January 12, 1952 in Dover-Foxcroft, son of Betty J. (Oliver) and Merle P. Finley, Sr.
He graduated from PCHS in Guilford in 1970 and attended Waynesburg State College and the University of Maine at Orono. Phil was a dedicated and loyal employee of Webber Energy Fuels for 39 years. He began his career at Chase & Kimball Oil Company, Dover-Foxcroft as an oil burner technician. He was then transferred to Roy Brothers in Old Town as a general manager and finished his career as the general manager at Hancock Oil, Ellsworth. Phil was a member of the Guilford Fire Department, Rotary Club International, Star in the East Lodge #60, 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Anah Temple Shriners “Wheeler” Unit, Bangor. The most important thing in his life was his family. Phil enjoyed cooking, entertaining and snowmobiling. He was the life of the party whose generosity was as big as the man.
He is survived by Sandra P. Finley, the love of his life, whom he married on June 22, 1974 and enjoyed 39 years of wedded bliss; his children, Megan Finley Kreie, John Kreie, and granddaughter, Ava Kreie; Jennifer and Aaron Elswick and grandson Kyler; mother, Betty J. Finley; sister, Marcia and David Graves; niece, Elizabeth and nephew Alex; along with many special nieces and nephews. He is survived by special friends, John French and Rick Pembroke. He was predeceased by his father, Merle P. Finley.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin Street, Ellsworth.
