Obituary for Lois A. Means

Brooklin
Lois A. Means, 82, died October 14, 2022, at her home after a battle with cancer and leukemia. She was born in Brooklin, December 13, 1939, daughter of Earl B. and Martha L. (Douglas) Austin.
Lois attended Brooklin Elementary school and graduated from Brooklin High School in 1959. In 1963 she married Ralston H. Means, Jr. She did training for a CNA license at Blue Hill Hospital and was a 1st responder with Peninsula Ambulance for five years. She did housekeeping for the Smyth Estate and Brown & Hanson family for many years and worked as a CNA at Penobscot Nursing Home for 27 years. Lois served in many offices for the IOOF Rebecca’s Lodge, Mt. Ephraim Cemetery and Bay View Hall.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going for Sunday rides to get ice cream, cooking and knitting.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Louanne Munson, and husband Joseph of Brooklin; son, Ralston (Rolly) Means III of Blue Hill; granddaughter, Ashley Munson of Bangor; grandchild, Alex A. Means of Blue Hill; sister, Marion Dennis of Brooklin and Grace Sherer of Stockton Springs. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ralston H Means, Jr.; sister, Beverly Lee; and grandson, Brandon L. Higgins.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday Oct. 20, 2022, at 2pm at Mt. Ephraim in Brooklin. Reception to follow at Bowden Hall, Brooklin.
