Linda Long, 83, died November 09, 2019 at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Winchester, MA, August 2, 1936 the daughter of George Burton and Elaine Tyler (Ruggles) Long.
Linda grew up in Reading, MA graduating from Reading Memorial High School where she was a class officer. She continued her education at the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and graduated from Tufts University. Upon graduating, Linda worked as a dental hygienist and a biology teacher before joining the family business. Linda and her predeceased spouse, John A. O’Brien, moved to Maine in 1981 upon his retirement. They purchased Blue Frost Farm that grows blueberries in Sedgwick which gave them much joy. Both had a deep love for the area becoming involved in many activities.
She was involved as a member or on the board of several groups and organizations including: Down East Audubon Society, a book club group, Brooklin Garden Club, Penobscot Marine Museum, Sargentville Thursday Club, Sargentville Library Association, Sedgwick-Brooklin Historical Society, The Ruggles House Society and the Wild Blueberry Association of North American.
She leaves behind a brother, G. Burton Long and wife Wanda S. of Reading, MA; sister, Leslie L. Bradbury and husband Joseph T. (Jay) of Southwick, MA; several nieces, nephews and their children.
At Linda’s request, the family will have a private memorial gathering. Her wish for any remembrances to be made to one of the mentioned groups or societies which she cherished.
